Round 1 Match Report: Hawks Soar in Season Opener
A dominant display from the Hawks sees them start the 2026 season with a convincing victory over Goodna Eagles.
The Springfield Lakes Hawks kicked off the 2026 season in style with a commanding 27-15 victory over Goodna Eagles at Silver Jubilee Park.
**First Half** The Hawks started brightly, scoring two early tries through strong forward play. The pack was dominant at scrum time, giving the backs plenty of front-foot ball. A well-worked backline move saw the winger cross in the corner to make it 17-5 at halftime.
**Second Half** Goodna came out firing after the break and scored a quick try to narrow the gap. But the Hawks' defence held firm, and two more tries in the final quarter sealed a convincing win. The bench made a strong impact with fresh legs in the final 20 minutes.
**Standout Performers** - Forwards dominated the set piece throughout - Strong defensive effort, limiting Goodna to just two tries - Excellent support play in broken field
A great start to the season. Next week we travel to Brothers Ipswich for what promises to be a tough contest.
